Start with a product fact record, not translation
Sales, product, engineering, and operations often hold different material. Align names, specifications, differences, fit, limits, certifications, and delivery scope in one source record.
This record is not the Chinese website. It supports Chinese, English, and later languages without conflicting specifications and promises.
Identify which language is closer to revenue
If international buyers already arrive through marketplaces, events, or sales, complete English product, use-case, case, and contact pages first. If the team cannot confirm product relationships, fix the source record before rebuilding the entire Chinese site.
| Current situation | Priority |
|---|---|
| English enquiries already exist | Complete core English product and enquiry paths |
| Product material conflicts | Align facts before writing any language |
| Target market is undecided | Choose the market before expanding translation |
| Chinese pages support domestic work | Plan Chinese and English around different jobs |
The minimum page set
- Home or market entry: offer, fit, and next step.
- Core product or service pages: selection, specification, fit, and limits.
- Case or capability pages: verifiable delivery, certification, or experience.
- About and contact pages: identity, responsibility, and contact paths.
- Required policy pages: privacy, shipping, returns, or service terms.
Keep multilingual search signals aligned
Every language needs stable URLs and self-canonicals. Reciprocal hreflang should connect true counterparts only. An explicit language choice should not be overridden by browser language.
Google's multilingual guidance also recommends separate URLs and visible language links. These rules cannot replace localization, but they prevent correct content from failing because access and relationships are unclear.
Use four questions to choose the order
- Which market is closest to revenue or qualified enquiries?
- Can the team confirm one product fact record?
- Who can review commercial language for the market?
- Which minimum page set completes discovery, comparison, and contact?
